Hello!

I have always loved this quote:

“That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do, not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do it has increased.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

You know how some people make it seem so easy to play the piano, or make a pie, or anything else, they can do it because they are persistent!  They practiced and practiced, until it became easier.

Some things take time to learn, others......it is just about taking the first step, and then you realize it really isn't that hard!

Preparedness is that way.  It can seem so very overwhelming, but if you just begin... you have the hardest part over with.

Preparedness is not just about creating a food supply to draw from, it is about learning basic skills that can bless your life and the life of your family.  It is:

*Learning how to be frugal.
*Learning how to make wholesome foods for your family from
  scratch rather than buying them.
*Learning how to plant and raise a garden
*Keeping ourselves physically fit so we can care for
 ourselves and others.
*Learning how to stretch your budget.
*Preparing your family how to react in an emergency
  situation
*Preparing yourself for the unexpected.
*Preparing your family temporally as well as
spiritually for the challenges in your future.

Just begin.  Each skill you work on brings you one step closer, and you have the added blessing of the satisfaction that comes with another skill learned.

Now for the fun!  Miracle Pan Release  This gal is on top of things!

This is the greatest thing in the kitchen.  Next time you are tempted to reach for the non-stick spray, mix this up instead.  I use it frequently, and it works like a charm, and is so much cheaper than the spray stuff.  Another great thing about it is that it doesn't leave that baked-on brown stuff on your pans.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients with a hand mixer until the mixture slightly increases in volume and the mixture looks smooth and creamy.

2. Place in a covered container and store on counter top or in the pantry.

To use: Use a pastry brush, clean paper towel or clean fingers to coat the inside of baking pans before baking. Use within 3-4 months or store in refrigerator for longer use.

If you are a fan of coconut oil like me, you can make it by replacing both the shortening and the vegetable oil with coconut oil that has been very slightly softened.
